In you opinion what would be the best way?

I was hoping some of you might have a good idea of how to create a realistic water seen. I'm wanting to great a seen in which a large ceramic bowl ... ( like a bonsai Pot ) .... was filled with water and the edge of the bowl had been recently broke with a large chip maybe a quarter to silver dollar size. With the water starting to pour out onto the table the bowl is set on... into a small puddle.... as if it the brake had just happened. If this makes since. LOL
