Hey everyone. I got a fox I justy skinned for a garment tan, for a very picky customer. I noticed the rear legs, the hair is extremely short. It looks like they been shaved. Its not slippage cuz the hair folicles are still there just really short. Does anyone know why this would be?? I'm trying to figure this out before I send it to the tannery.

The animal probally got some type of disease or was in a nasty fight. Either way it's fine.

  3. A lot of fungal infections cause hair breakage - ringworm for one. Prior to complete hair loss and the telltale "ring" most animals have breakage about 1/4 - 1/2 an inch up the hair shaft.
