Wow, some great results from the classes so far. I have trained with a couple well known taxidermists already and I can tell anyone thinking about this class that it is the best money they will ever spend. Rick, your A to Z Whitetail DVD is the best training video I have ever seen. I have no doubt your classes are the same. I will be contacting you to try to set something up, because the chance to gleen some of the knowledge you have gained over so many years is just too good to pass up.

I spent three days with Rick and really regret it. I really wish I had spent two more days and done some more deer work with him. I spent the majority of our time on a pig and bobcat and while I learned a plethora, I wish I could have spent more time and covered deer as well. We did go over some aspects of anatomy, eye setting, etc., but let me recommend that anyone who goes and trains with him, spend the extra money and stay a couple more days than you planned. Trust me; you won't go home wishing you had gone home earlier. For those who misread my first sentence, what I meant is that I really regretted not spending more time. Rick is an incredibly gifted teacher. Lots of people are talented taxidermist, but not all can teach at the level Rick does.

I recently visited my parents in GA and decided to take this opportunity to spend a day with Rick. I was unsure as to how the day would go as we were not going to mount anything due to my time constraints. My main focus was to better understand how to interrupt reference material focusing on ear butts and eyes.. Well let me tell you Rick did not hold back, I had information over load!! Never dreamed there was so much information on ear butts and eyes.. Never will look at these the same way again. Rick was so comfortable to be around and shared a lot of information as well as some secrets. I would encourage anyone that has the opportunity to visit Rick and remember you do not need to mount anything to learn and improve your work, but can only imagine what you would learn mounting an animal with him..

Thanks for a great class. Bill

Just completed an advanced whitetail one-on-one class with Dave Selenke. Dave is quite an artist and has an accomplished machinist's dexterity. He stayed for a 5-day course during which we covered anatomy, molding & casting in acrylic, competition mounting and finishing techniques. Dave possesses the talent to take his taxidermy to any level that he desires.

Dave made an RTV rubber mold for a whitetail mouth cup. Here, Dave applies acrylic to create the lower teeth:

I have been very fortunate and blessed to have spent the last 20 years sculpting and designing taxidermy products for major taxidermy supply companies (Noonkester, WASCO, McKenzie). Live animals, materials, equipment, space, and unlimited time needed for research have all been at my disposal. The amount of Urethane foam, Resins, RTV rubber and clay that have been used under my direction would literally fill rail cars. The methods I used successfully at competition at the master level were frequently precursors of design and production. I feel comfortable that much of this information can be shared and applied to you personally. Instruction on mechanics and core anatomy will change the way you see and do things forever, and force the quality of your work to an entirely new level. It will require many years of time and intense study to gain the knowledge you will acquire in a class in just one week. Don't second guess and wait around wasting time. Book a class now! Most of June and July are still open for a class.

Having taken a class from Rick last summer, I have to say it's amazing how much your perspective changes from his instruction. He really trains your eyes to see things in a different way. You will be able to look at a mount and see exactly what's wrong and how to change it. Your mounts will improve dramatically and go from looking like okay mounts to looking like live animals. You will learn more than Rick can describe on here. When I was there for four days, we mounted or worked on deer, a striper, a boar and bobcat (completely mounted start to finish), as well as learning fundamentals like basic anatomy, eye setting, etc. If you are serious about improving, you need to invest in training and Rick's training is first class. He can take you up a few levels quickly no matter at what level you are currently.

Gary Landry and Marva Frankfurth of Texas just completed a 5-day advanced training course on whitetail deer. Marva set and mounted her first deer eye and it was the most impressive first-time work I have ever seen. Gary is a stickler for detail and absorbs anatomy and skeletal mechanics like a sponge. They are both very talented and were able to pick up new things quickly. It was a joy to have them here and I expect them to go very far with their taxidermy skills.

Marva and I had a blast!!!! We both learned a ton. Rick is an great instructor and you get his full attention while you are there. The amount of information is astronomical, and well worth the money that we spent!! Starting from the inside out, understanding the mechanics of the skeleton and the muscles that lay underneath, getting everything in the right place...makes the hide almost fall into place. We have come away from Rick with a lot of knowledge that is essential to all Taxidermist.

When we got home and looked at the mounts I had done, at how jacked up everything was. I couldn't stand it. So, Marva and I took her bow kill and my biggest deer ever, re-hydrated and stripped them down to the manikin, and started over. We'll post pics of the before and after when were done. We will be also posting the pics of the mount that we done with Rick when the finish work gets done.

Looking forward to going back and do some classes on open mouth!!

Bottom line, if you are willing to learn, try different things and get a better understanding of the true anatomy, and want to better yourself in your mounting.....Rick Carter is the man to call and set up a class!!!!

    Thanks Again.......Gary & Marva

My most recent class proved my belief that an expert in any field of taxidermy can quickly become an expert in another area. This week, I was honored to have Stevie Young and Jerry Parrott, from Valdosta GA, for an advanced whitetail class.
Stevie Young has won National Champion at the NWTF and successfully competed at the World Show with Frank Newmeyer. His talent and abilities were quickly revealed through every procedure on a whitetail deer. It was a privilege to host he and Jerry for a class.
