They call Sandhills "ribeye in the sky" for a reason! Yummy

Here's a pinfeathery mountain quail I shot the other evening when I was out for bandtails. The pigeons didn't cooperate.

And here's a couple honkers I got today. I got to the spot late, but still ended up with a double that came in nicely.

Things are slow going right now. I just haven't had the time to get serious yet. I hope to be able to get out and enjoy all the seasons to come. Keep posting those pictures. Its always a fun thread.

Been lots of years since I posted over here...I plan on getting heavy into Taxidermy again and thought I would come and rip off the experts...lol. Figured I better contribute somehow. Those are some awesome pics so far, love seeing the ones from out of the US. Here is how my September is going...

Lots of Doves, both Morning and Eurasian (seeing LOTS of those now)

Good to see you over here John. Great photos. I'm jealous of the bandtails and doves. I couldn't find either this year. I can count on both hands the number of bandtails I've seen in their normal places the entire month of September. Maybe only four total since the season began and none offering a shot. Its been rough. I hope to have that luck change tomorrow if I get out.

Bandtails still don't want to play. I tried several areas throughout the morning. I finally saw more than I had been. Just nearly impossible to get to through the tangled western Oregon jungle. I picked up some surrounding appetizers anyway.

  19. Finally got some time to go out with a friend and chase one of my favorite september birds. With the drought it seemed that many were hanging close to the main river areas, although they weren't flushing very much at all. Mostly glimpses of them darting through the marsh grass like a stealthy chicken. Was a great day with 3 of the 4 huntable species shot, not too shabby!

Total take: King Rail, Clapper Rail, and Sora Rail

Hope everyone is having a good one!

Harliduck, I love the picture of the one with the shotgun resting next to the birds. Nice birds also.
