aproximate age of old bass mount

    question for you old guys...i bought an old mount at a antique store to practice with new fin replacements. when i removed the old fins it was an old skin mount that was stretched over a hollow cardboard blank. i remeber back when we stuffed our fish with sawdust but i do not remember these blanks? any idea about what years these were popular? thanks for the feedback

    Are you sure it it cardboard
    I know we use to use a drywall plaster mix on the skin then line it with burlap then another layer of drywall mix,
    Sew it up then filled with sawdust.
    When dry cut a flap in the back and dumped the sawdust
    Did this late 70s early 80s

    yep....looks like a hollow paper form like the old deer head forms from the forties and fifties

    found the answer....removed the head to put on replacement head and had newspaper stuffed inside...date was july 1958
