Not to put a damper on the fan-fest (and I'm not trying to imitate Cecil), but I believe that unless the site increases in speed about 500 %, all dial up users will be excluded from the site. I have a Cable line at home and at work, and the time to load pages takes forever. I like to spend about a minute or two several times a day to check in, BUT, if it takes three minutes, as it is now, I probably won't bother - maybe only check it every other day.

Secondly, there needs to be some indication that a post is a picture. I mostly concentrate on birds, and probably wouldn't open a picture post vs. a discussion post. I realize many people want to post pictures, but the old system of linking to web sites worked well. I didn't bother wasting my time looking at John Doe's first duck ever.

I'm hoping sucess for the forum, but a month from now a good comparison can be made. I doubt as many discussions will occur because of the slow response time. A simple calculation of how many posts were made in a given week will be easy.

I love the new forum, great job Ken

  17. Wow, what a change from the old. Since I live out in the sticks and have only dialup, I find it loads almost as quickly as any other site. If it's really that slow for cable and dsl, I can only imagine that ya'll know how slow it is here. Welcome back to the world of the old and the new.

Good luck Ken on getting things straightened out.
