    Let's see what's out there. No part of the bird should touch the base except for one feather or one toe. Or have something in between (branches are O.K.).
    I did these shovelers in 1980 or so.

    Either make a feather out of sheet steel or use spring steel.

    Honestly, I'm not really impressed with "air" mounts unless the birds are anatomically correct and cleanly done. I have seen some of these type mounts that were smoking but what usually ends up happening is you end up with a mediocre mount with an interesting attachment. It's like a poorly mounted fish supported by a splash....the splash is neat, but it's still not a great mount.
