inverting duck head

    why is it you can invert an owl ,with a MUCH larger neck to skull comparison than a duck???thin fragile skin?? Yes I cut around the bill and skinn that way ,it's great to be able to paint THEN mount ,I was just wondering about the invert question!!

    you can invert mergansers.

    You could probably put a softball down a merg neck. They are pretty tough!

    pintail,goldeneye and a few teal are the only ones I dont invert....all others can be......

    Wood ducks and Mandarins will invert fairly easily, and so will all of the mergansers. Ruddys, eiders and scoters will invert too, but I don't recommend using the real heads on eiders.

    George yeah in a wee sort of way I'm venting,,more curious than anything ,I've turned mwergansers ,and owls, and ruddys [that thick neck really helps] but afraid of other ducks,,shoot I was really sweating bullets when it came to a woodcock ,and that was the EASY part!!!!!
