Wing transplant

Discussion in 'Bird Taxidermy' started by turkeyjim, Feb 21, 2012.

  1. Just dod my first wing transplant today on a turkey. Two blade Rages are not good on feathers, the guy shot off 7 feathers on one wing. it sucked, but turned out pretty good. Don't really want to do this very often.
  2. Agree! Had to do that on a blue phase Ross goose. Really rare in south LA so it was worth it.

I have had to do it twice now and don't want to have to do it again. Show us pictures of the finished mount. see you at the show.

I've done it in order to repair a valuable pinioned bird and more than once when dealing with doves. (Sometimes it's the path of least resistance with them.)
It's a pain, but it's a good skill to have in your repertoire - just in case.

Just call me Dr. Frankenstein, or Frankensteen.
I've had to do just about every part of the body and head at some time or another.
