Neat little sawbill
Marking. Nice photos...never notice the neck swell before but he clearly has it puffed out when he is displaying. Thanks!

Next to a male woody these ducks are just as beautiful.
lordy... what a BEAUTIE!
thanks for posting the pics.
Great pic's. The funny thing is, if someone mounted a mergy in anyone of about of those photo poses, half the taxi's on here would rip the guy about something being out of place, not the right cant, blah, blah, blah. Kinda of funny if you ask me...
While checking traps today I had two males fly over me and land in the pond.
Thanks for sharing Oz...Nice reference!
Great picture.. and BB is absolutly correct. If anyone mounted a bird like that people would have all kinds of negitive comments.. good point BB..but very true
I would like to think that most bird judges would be very familiar with the various displays that hooded mergansers do. (And other ducks as well.)
There are pictures of it all over the internet, and You Tube even has some videos that are well worth watching.
It would not be an easy pose to pull off correctly, but it could be done, and I think it would make a very impressive mount.
They know they have it, and they aren't ashamed to flaunt it!
I saw some pictures of a hoodie that Shane Smith done like this and looked good
Awesome reference,Thank you
