NTA "Can Do" What?

I'm just always amazed how much drama revolves around taxidermy. Whether it's the NTA, taxidermy suppliers or a competition at a state show.

 

It's true. Harry and I had a very informative conversation today and I can tell that I do believe we as a whole need to support he and Fred. I understand why so much can't be posted here. As is evident in the beginning of this thread, I will take Harry, Fred or anybody else to task when I feel it is needed, but I can also tell you that what Harry and Fred are doing is necessary for the good of us all. I couldn't say that if I had any doubts, but I don't. Harry shared enough with me that I am more convinced now than I have ever been on this issue. You go where you feel you should. That is your choice. I have also made my choice. Someday we may all owe Fred and Harry our sincere appreciation. I wish, as I know Fred and Harry wish, that all could be posted here for everyone to see, but you just have to trust that it can't be yet. I get it Harry. I have a lawyer son and I'm pretty up on how this stuff works. Truck on.

 

Why tomorrow? Why not yesterday morning when you started this thread?

 

Cole, it's something that came out in our conversation, and Harry is at his shop today and the letter is at his house. Also, his wife had knee replacement surgery yesterday and she needs tended to. When he comes to work tomorrow, where his puter is, he will post it. Not trying to be his spokesman, just relaying what he told me since you asked.

If you want the truth, it is that way in ANY association that represents a small industry that has a majority of members who are independent business owners. Whether it's landscaping, construction or plumbing or anything, if it's going to be full of owners, it's going to be full of independent thinking men and women who are use to making business decisions themselves, not collaborating with 12 other people.


What you also have in these organizations is a very, very, very small group of men and women who do all the work so they become very defensive and develop a sense of entitlement. Now on not saying that in a negative way. You come on, live, breathe the association 24/7 and then once a year a group of people want to tell you what you're doing wrong, not right and tell you all the things YOU need to do.... but these people will NOT be around to HELP you do all the things you need to do, but will be the first ones to bitch when you didn't get it done.

I'm not saying the NTA did right or wrong, I'm not a member and to tell you the honest truth, I do not care. I'll support the up and comIng UTA and put my motivations to positive use....but I will tell you this. After much reflection, if I was Greg and Cindy Crain I'd tell the whole lot of you to kiss my ass. I don't know if they did right or wrong, but if I had been around working fulltime as long as they have been only to get weekend warriors breathing down my neck.... I'd probably have told everybody to have it..... but that is why a person like me WILL NEVER AND SHOULD NEVER hold that title. A person who does better realize its a thankless job.

I still would like to know who sent those letters about Kim & Danny though, I wish the gutless bastard would stand up.... but a coward never can. If anybody has a right to hold a lifelong grudge, those 2 do. Being members of the NTA almost destroyed them. That's sick.

As far as Bill Haynes goes, he's like one of those pop up gopher games Harry.... hit him in the head with the letter and he'll go back down only to pop up from another hole later.

It's the same old song and dance with the same old routine about a show that still exists in reruns.

Harry look, I don't have it wrong. Maybe they did something, maybe they didn't.... but apparently even after you and Fred's huge brouhaha and lawsuit the Federal Government is still allowing the Crains to run a not-for-profit organization. If there were improprieties in a non profit there is no gag order that can be enforced by law. Sorry buddy, but there is not. You CAN plea out an embezzlement charge within a private firm or business and make a settlement which satisfies the owners, the prosecuting attorney and the Federal Government...... there are no sealed papers in a non profit organization if it is found that the trustees or in this case, the executive director have stolen money and it has been proven.

I'm telling you this now short and sweet. Do I agree with the way things are run in the NTA? NO! I feel that the way some of them have represented this industry while being an elected official is abhorable (and many have done good) I also feel that the way some people have been wronged, bullied and almost destroyed is sickening..... but I also feel that if what you are saying is so true that the Internal Revenue Service of this country would throw the Crains out on their ass so quick it would make their heads spin! I also know that the IRS would notify every member of the not-for-profit association that the leader had embezzled and stolen funds. Sorry Harry, the Federal Government does not play those games.

I have had a problem with the NTA's personal assassinations of those whom they felt undesirable, myself included. There has never been a make up party between them and I and in all honesty there will probably never be, too many burned bridges between two party's leaves too many hot coals to walk across to ever shake hands again. But I am also not a blind person who plays follow the leader.

If we were to believe you, the Crains are guilty of embezzling $1,000's of dollars, not paying taxes on it, you have proven it in court, but now are not allowed to share the information of guilt because there is a gag order or no speak clause..... I'm sorry, but as I said before, the IRS would not let the Crains have access to a penny of that organizations money if that were true.

How many times have you seen a preacher who has been caught stealing leave 'for the good of the church'? You damn right it's for the good of the church, because the IRS will yank their tax status in 2 seconds.... but they are allowed to maintain it after reorganization and staff restructuring. They will then be monitored for no less than 5 years with EVERY member or financial contributor getting notified. That's how the real world works.

Harry, I will take your advice and 'bow out!, just as I have for the last year. One door got slammed on me and 20 more opened. But if you are ever going to get the others to believe you, you need to drop this 'I can't tell you what it is, but it's all been proven act'. I'm telling you now, if the leader of a non profit was proven to have been embezzling money, he would not be sitting there and the members would have been notified as of why. Not to be repetitive, but that is how the real world works, been there seen that.

Good luck on your journey, hope you find other positive ways to direct your anger.


PS I also have a question for you.Let's say you get the Crains removed and néw leadership is installed, would it be hard for you not to have the most say innthe restructuring of the organization since you have invested the most money? And furthermore, how would you handle dissenting board after a year??? After all, things would have to get back to 'normal'.

 

I'll guarantee you one thing..... If I had spent half the money you had Harry Whitehead, I'd be SHOWING people what I found, not TELLING people what I found

I'll entertain you and tell you why Harry..... because it was not worth it to me. Just like how you are hollering and belittling everybody who may disagree with you on this post, that is all I would be in for. If I do not like somebody I stay away from them.

After seeing how you treat people here who disagree with you, I damn sure don't want to be part of an organization you save and revive.......would never work along side you, too hot headed.

Harry, you're as bad as I am when it comes to having your mouth overload your ass. Take a breath here. Why would you ever call Michael "spineless"? YOu know his history as do all of us. Putting money out doesn't create "spine" and certainly withholding it doesn't take it away. Remember you and Michael share the honor of being "banned", so why make it personal? You don't need to alienate your allies because they disagree with your methods or your commitment. Personally, I've always doubted that taxidermists could ever have a professional organization. Each of us is the big fish in our own small ponds and when the dike breaks, we end up battling the heirarchy in the combined ponds. Look at the millions of dollars we lost just so Lanny Ballard could mount one damned hawk. We're taxidermists and not rocket scientists and the last thing we need is a battle between kindred souls.
