Finish work on mule deer eyes using Mod Pegde

Discussion in 'Beginners' started by jesslife, Apr 4, 2012.

  1. I m new to this taxi form and think you guys could help me out. I've been doing taxidermy work a little over 2 years know and I've enjoyed everything about it. So I was wondering how other taxidermist do the little bumps on the lower eye lids on big game. I have been surfing the web and can not find how to do in. I did find something saying that they use mod podge applicator to get the bumped under the eye. I see a lot of taxidermist do it this way at some of the shows I been to. So if anyone know how to do this processing I would really appreciate it, and if you could show me step by step with picture. Can you do this step after the mount is done or do you still new to airbrush the clear of the mod pegde. Hopefully this makes since what I trying to get across. Thanks a lot guys!

  2. There may be something in the tutorials about it. But when I do it I finish all the painting and I use a syringe and a small needle, to apply the bumps on the eyes. Give it a try,it's not to hard, even a stiff, fine paintbrush could work. Experiment with it, if you don't like it wipe them off and try agin. With reference pictures and a little "know how" you can do it. No need for step by step pictures, just give it a try.

  3. deerslayer87, Thanks for the help. Do you know if most people do the dots all the way across the bottom. And would you have some pictures up close of yours. I would just like to know if I m making the dots to big or to small? Thanks again for you help (deerslayer87

Mod podge will flatten out it is to then, unless you find some that is thick, and you need to get get good reference, thous bumps start of being the same size and get smaller when they get to the back of the eye. That is the last thing I do when the deer is finish.O ya them bumps are on top too.
