Hey Gang I want to share something I hope will be received by the readers of Outdoor Life as a positive look at our industry! I was recently interviewed by the on-line fishing write for Outdoor life Alex Robinson. Alex interview was about learning taxidermy and what I do as a teacher as well how it is portrayed and viewed by the public. Instantly we jumped on to the direction of how many great and talented folks are out there doing taxidermy and where you can find them!

I love to direct the spotlight on to as many others as so can to share in the fun we have and do so I shared with Alex “The Month in fish pictures” and the 5 year archive of this continuous posting. Though we began about the teaching I do and folks who learn taxidermy I wanted to share the wonderful folks who are also so gifted and beyond talented for the art of fish taxidermy! Alex was thrilled to see so much incredible work and he told me that he would look through the 5 year archive and begin a article on the cool fish work of some of our generous Taxidermist who post each week!

Obviously there are so many gifted folks who contribute and not all are shown in the article but I really wanted to share this focus on the industry not just on the teaching I do help shine a positive light of the beautiful work we do! What ever we can do to put our industry in a positive light that the rest of the sporting world can look at and say Hey there is truly art in taxidermy then we all benefit!

Here is the Link I hope this brings more attention to our industry and share in the work we do and love!

  3. This just show how truly generous you are....

A gentleman of your stature who could have easily taken in all the spotlight and shine it on himself in a premier outdoor magazine, but yet floods out onto others.

Thank you, Rick for all you do for us and the industry..

Some really cool work showcased there Rick. I love those head shots, the Barramundi and Sockeye just blow me away every time I see them.

    So much still to learn!

Wow! Was looking through those pics today, and since my computer is down I have to do it from my phone so it took a while, I quit a few into it. Checked it when I got home where I have better service and the first page after the ones I already saw was my fish! Brown chasing the crayfish. Thanks for the honor! Steve grabowski

Brian W. alerted me to this one. Wow, I was clueless. Thanks so much! I do see I need a better camera though. My pics always look fuzzy compared to others. Maybe it is because I downsize them all before posting.....maybe it is my POS Easyshare camera.

Maybe it is because I cannot stop shaking when I photograph such awsome work. LOLOL

What a great day for the Fish Taxidermist. Outdoor publications usually write about the Mammal and gamehead guys. Myself doing all phases of Taxidermy I feel Fish Taxidermy is overlooked way to often. We strive for that perfect body shape, without hiding it under a bunch of feathers or fur. We strive for detail with our airbrush, that would make no since to apply to a game head. We are model makers, sculptors, flat artists, carvers. Now, the thousands of people that read this great magazine may better understand there is more to a quality Fish mount, than just the glossy shine.

Excellent article and professionally done. It was great of you to give credit to all the high end fish taxidermists out there. The fish taxidermy consuming public has been given a short cut to quality mounts. The visual softness of these mounts is amazing. Congrats to all especially to you Rick.
