I purchased, of a kit coon, was wet tanned, I think, it is dry now. They split the tail all the way down to tip. When preparing hide to mount do I have to hydrate hide? If I do in what solution and for how long? Do I sew the tail after or before soaking?

Rehydrate your raccoon by submerging in water, squeeze out excess but leave pretty wet, place in plastic bag and into trefrigerator over night. Next day it should be soft- any hard parts (feet, nose) might need a little more time. Sew the tail over the tail wire on the form after you sew up the body. Enjoy!
