Where do I make the cuts on a life size bobcat, for a rug?

Discussion in 'Beginners' started by call of the wild, Sep 7, 2012.

  1. Hi all: I should know this. I have done 3 or 4 bobcat rugs before, but have always made the leg cuts wrong. Can anyone send me a diagram or picture on how to make the skin cuts for a bobcat rug. I cannot look at a rug, and tell where to cut. Has to be a diagram or the life size cat. Thanks

I assume your problem is with the back legs? For that you start at the heel and cut a straight line to the Vent.

  3. It's the front leg's. I know I start at the pad, and cut up to elbow, but do I cut around elbow, and cut up center of inside of leg to belly cut? Or stay on back of front leg, then cut to belly? The front is where I'm messing up.
    Thanks

you should be making straight cuts. From the middle of the pad through the arm pit. you want the cut center on the inside of the leg so that the center of the outside is..well..centered!
your cuts should resemble a cross. there is no need to go around anything. Stay in the center of what appears to be the inside of the leg.
