Discussion in 'The Taxidermy Industry' started by rarestjewels, Feb 15, 2013.

  1. Looking for information from State Associations that hold a Commercial Division during there State Convention. Any info pertaining to Rules, Awards, Judging Criteria ect. would be helpful.

    1. This is a judge’s interpretation division open to all species. It will be judged for aesthetics, not mechanics. Competitors should strive to present life-like entries.
    2. Judging will be completed from a 3 foot distance with no hands on judging.

Limited to two (2) entries per registered member.
Space will be provided for business cards for participants interested
No other forms of advertising will be permitted
All mounts must be able to hang on a backboard or set on a table.

  3. Commercial division, should show good mechanics and what the customer can expect coming out of your shop for the customers wall.

Smell, chemical or animal smells should not be present.
    Still anatomy should be there.

Just normal solid commercial mount. Few if any critiques should be available depending on assoc. rules.

In Ohio the Commercial Div. is panel judged by 3 people. A consensus score is given with a comment sheet. There is no touching of the mount. The entries are not competition pieces but customer pieces, basically so a taxidermist can gauge what quality of work they provide their customers.
  5. Thanks, is there a best of category/division award? also, anything anyone wishes was different about their commercial division?
  6. The Wisconsin Assoc. had a commercial division for years. At this years competition, we changed a few things. We added a amateur division, and renamed our commercial division, to The Wildlife Artistry Divsion. We are trying to get bigger and more artistic commercial pieces to our show. Going to be interesting how many people enter.
