Hey guys, my 2 nephews caught some big northerns this weekend through the ice. (18lber and a 20lber) I am going to mount them for them as gifts, so I brought them home. Is it ok to run cold water over them and clean the slime off before wrapping them up in a wet towel and borax? I'll then put them into garbage bags too, but was just curious if the slime did any good as they may be froze until next fall? Thanks. Mark

  2. Rinse them off in dawn and cold water wrap in a wet towel and freeze. No need for borax

You might try alum. It cuts slime like nothing else.
