Driftwood

Discussion in 'Bird Taxidermy' started by gwamp, Feb 25, 2013.

  1. Pretty stuff! Is it Cypress? What do you do to treat it to ensure that you don't get any type of bugs that would dine on your mounts? It certainly looks clean on the outside, but those little critters can be sneaky. I've seen where guys will incorporate a nice piece of wood that perhaps a beaver gnawed on with their bird, only to have the feet get munched on later.

I treat with bleach, then pressure wash and when dry hit with a little insecticide from my pump sprayer. It's all cypress, the wood is solid and naturally repels insects.

Looks nice. Is it for sale or are you just showing it to us?

I have collected quite a lot the last few weeks. Would consider selling but shipping may be a limiting factor ($$). I would really love to load up a trailer and sell it at one of the state or national shows.
