Peacock body

Discussion in 'Bird Taxidermy' started by Daniel Callan, Feb 26, 2013.

  1. A friend gave me a peacock and I was wondering where I could find a body for it.
Or is it better to carve one.
Also if you have pics of mounted peacocks I would love to see them to get some ideas.

Hey Daniel, you should wrap one together with wood wool (Excelsior). I've done three in my life, all hand-wrapped. Do you still have the carcass?

  3. Thanks socalmountainman , that would be one option, but I would prefer to use a foam body.

Have fun with it and take before and after pictures. Joe

I used one from research mannakins.
I wanted to be able to remove the tail so this was my way of doing it. I used a coarse reciprocating saw blade to get the fat out in between the feathers in the tail and then used bondo to attach it to the foam.
