Skull O' The Week 3/10 -3/16

Discussion in 'Skulls and Skeletons' started by skulley, Mar 10, 2013.

  1. Pine plaque with ebony stain and some clear coat. this one was originally cleaned by the owner and then sat for several years. seems that whenever someone else cleans them they take much longer for me to get them degreased.

Here's my entry of the buck I took this past fall. Love having beetles around to clean stuff up. :)

  12. that's a nice muley. wide, layed out frame, deep forks, nice buck. good backdrop for the photo too. lots of folks dont think much about whats behind their piece. nicely done.

  13. What is the trick to taking a picture like that??

  14. Well, it helps to have a good camera with at least 5 or 6 megapixel and by today's standards those are a bit low. Good composition ( layout within the picture ) really helps too. Last but not least is your backdrop or background. Skulls are bright and striking so you should try to use that by contrasting the white with a darker and mostly solid background. A grey n white paisley background would not do your euro justice.

  15. A black sheet on the wall and table, set skull on table. Easy n quick.

  16. Ok Cool My wife has a Canon Rebel T3I, Im sure it will do the trick Ill just have to play with it some. Thanks for the response!

  17. no worries, yeah, that camera will take some excellent pics. do your setup and then take a bunch of pics, get low, get high, hit some angles and then go through 'em. i take a dozen or more and end up deleting all but a couple. have fun and remember that awesome photos bring in business

Here's another photo. I use large colored bulletin board paper to get the contrasting backrounds. I like experimenting and seeing what I can come up with.

  20. I love how that paper gives it kind of a 3-D look, very nice, will have to get me some of that.
