Pair of Blue Winged Teal (w/banded Hen)
1 Drake Green Winged Teal - Banded
    1 Common Goldeneye
Pair of Redheads - Dead Mount

I have a pair of Ringnecks on the way back from Birdman. I also have a pair of Buffleheads and a NICE Gadwall to send him so I'll be adding a few more soon :)

I rarely get to mount my own birds...or mammals.

I don't have very much extra space so my personal collection of mounted specimens is very limited:

    1 Adelie penguin
    1 great argus pheasant
    1 Peruvian meadowlark
    1 Cherry headed conure
    2 Diamond doves
    1 English Trumpeter pigeon
    1 Steller's eider
    2 Harlequin ducks
    1 cutaway wigeon mount
1 European wigeon (An abandoned mount, so I'm keeping it!)

    1 summer weasel
    1 blacktail shoulder mount

I also have a lot of random things in the freezer.

I don't have that much, either. Most of what my father and I mounted were sold for extra funds. XD

    I've got,

    -x1 Australian rock wallaby
    -x1 raccoon kit
    -x2 bobcat kittens
    -x1 chipmunk
-x3 red foxes (one a pink cross, one a normal red, and one a platinum)
    -x1 brown skunk
    -x3 whitetail head mounts
    -x1 black bear rug

And that's it. Not a very impressive collection, Lol.

Nancy, I've never heard of most of your mounts.. ???
Very cool. What is a cutaway mount or cutaway wigeon?
Nice collection GH! I can't wait to see what some of the others have stashed away...

I'm a beginner/hobby guy. So my collection has just began. Nothing special. In order first mount to latest mount:
    C Goldeneye
    Wigeon
    Mallard (banded)
    Bufflehead
    Pheasant
    Pintail X2
    Hooded Merg
    Gadwall
    White Fronted (banded)
    BP Snow
    Turkey (fan) x2
    WT Shoulder X2
    WT Euro/Skull X4

For this summer: Cackler, Ross's, Goldeneye, Hooded, GW, Wigeon x2, Mallard (double banded), Pheasant, Bobcat x5 (hesitant to try a cat)

I am working on mounting every species of waterfowl that is commonly found in the central flyway. I have shot at least one of each, but the plumage is sometimes lacking. To complete the collection I still need Canvasback, Redhead, Shoveler, BW Teal, Wood Duck, Scaup and Ringneck. . and possibly some other less known species.

    Cool thread byrdman

  9. Lizardfeathers

Lizardfeathers Thank you for teaching me through your works...

I've been doing taxidermy for a couple years, but only a few months of doing it more aggressively. It all started with me accenently running over a field mouse with the lawnmower ;D. I didn't want it to go to waste, so I mounted it but it looks like someone cut the thumb of a glove off and stuck some eyes and legs on it. Here's what I have currently.

    Golden pheasant rooster
    Ring-neck pheasant hen
Juvinile grackle (found dead in yard)
    Greater Canadian goose
1968 yearling (or doe I'm not sure) deer shoulder mount
    Adult mink
    Two domestic rats
    Three mice
    Domestic rabbit
Two wild shrews (also found dead)
My current projects include two white winter weasels and a green mutant color morph mallard drake 8). Nothing two crazy, but I'm new to this. :D My dream mounts would have to be a peacock, a penguin, and an owl of some kind.

Just over 100 myself. Being a collector and doing your own work is a bad equation. All the North American stuff plus few vagrants, hybrids, gallinules, etc. Harlis are my weakness. Have 13 and this yrs 4 in the freezer. Finishing our new home with my trophy room.

    Yep, same here.
I think the only reason I mounted my tule elk as soon as I did ( over a year ) was because I had CUSTOMERS bugging me to mount MY elk.

    ::) ;D

Capercaillie, I can take a picture of it "as is", but it isn't completely mounted yet. (It's been stuck in this halfway-done condition for years)
I'm still waiting to get a new head for it. (News: I found one! 'Just don't have it in my possession yet.)
I purchased the bird already mounted, a terrible job, so the first thing I did was toss the whole thing into the bathtub and soak the skin off the form. I found out very quickly that the wings and tail were going to get demolished in my freezer so I took those parts out and mounted them separately. The rest of it's still frozen.
Specimen-wise, it's about as good as they get. He was 7 years old and died of cancer. I also have a very good female in the freezer to go with him.

My birds are always the last ones to get mounted ...
