fleshing after pickeling

    I do not have a fleshing machine or the money to get one can u thin a a deer hide with fleshing knife and beam i plan on getting a machine but this is a test deer of my own and cant spend the money right know.

    Back in the 60s when I started practicing taxidermy there was not to many taxidermists that had a wheel to thin hides, I did not either, fleshed and thinned skins on a beam, so that should answer your question.

    Call a taxi in your area ; ask if he can flesh your cape . It will cost you , but in the end you will have a better cape . and maybe some pointers to boot .

    I'd order a skife knife. It will save alot of time and greif.
     
  6. single edged rasor blades and pvc pipe, hold the blade at a 90 degree angle and scrape.
