Hi, everyone, a friend of mine has several large Russian Tortoises that kind of wander about in their back yard. Apparently, last year they found out that they weren't both female... Anyway, they ended up with 11 babies, and one of them didn't make it. The little one is about 3 inches in diameter, and I'd like to wet preserve it in a jar. How would I go about doing this? It's in a freezer for now... It's shell was still squishy. My friend put it in the freezer immediately after he found it and it had not been dead for long when he did. Any advice on how to preserve this little one? I was told that I could used denatured alcohol, but I don't want to run out and buy it if that's not what I should use.

    Thanks for the help!

Soak in 10% formalin for 48 hours, rinse, then keep in sealed container of alcohol

Where is the best place to get formalin from?
