Bird flesher

Discussion in 'Bird Taxidermy' started by Cowtown guy, Jun 18, 2013.

  1. Hey folks,
I am going to start building a bird flesher and was wondering what height off the bench you pros have found to be the ideal height. I will be doing mainly waterfowl. We don't have turkeys around here in any abundance so I'm not worried about them.
    Thanks for the help folks.

First you have to decide if you're going to sit or stand. Some prefer to pull up and sit at a bench while others prefer to stand in front of the wheel. Once that's done the main thing is to make sure that your arms/elbows are able to bend comfortably so that you can easily touch the skin to the wheel. This will prevent fatigue on your muscles and joints and the skin can come away from the wheel very easily as well if need be.

I've seen wheels set up a countless number of ways, this is just one suggestion for starting out. :)
