    Hudson,

What would you consider the most common mistakes when oiling? Skin to wet or dry, not enough, temp of skin etc. etc.

Over time tanning things, I have learned that rolling the hide (before oiling) into a large towel and getting that excess moisture out (while keeping it moist enough to avoid the too-dry scenario that you described before) seems to really help the hide to absorb more oil.

Will double oiling help with stretch? Sweat skin and reapply oil then sweat again? Seems like an expensive step if unnecessary.

Well I guess that kind of makes sense with my deer tails... After buying 6 and getting only 1 back, (that's not tanning related, that's just someone who kept throwing them away or interfered with the tanning process...) my biggest tail only had the chance for some dawn soap and an oiling...

Never occurred to me that it could take a second oiling... It's not super stiff but it's not satisfactory..
