Here's a cute pet

Discussion in 'Lifesize Mammals' started by code6202, Jul 23, 2013.

  1. I normally do not work on pets, not because they are difficult, but because I would not make a good grief counselor. This one is different because it was to help a fellow taxidermist who is very busy. PS-This is a huge dog!

For this job, I carved the form from foam and molded the mouth and tongue with Oomoo silicone. It was not too difficult, except that the skin let out quite a bit, and unlike a deer, you cannot just make the form bigger to accommodate for it. I worked very hard on it, and hope that the owner is so happy when he gets it back.

Amazing piece! Never seen a pedestal mount of a domestic dog before, but in my opinion, you pulled this off nicely. What did you use for the tongue?

Codi, it looks great. If this is what the customer wanted, how could they not like it?

Codi, I gotta say you nailed it. I just lost my newfoundland a couple months ago to a spider bite. You certainly captured the look. Great job.
