The NTA Litigation Committee reports that a law suit has in fact been initiated and filed on August 1, 2013 by Greg D. Crain, Cynthia Crain d/b/a National Wildlife Studios versus The National Taxidermists Association. The Crains are demanding a trial by jury and the matter is currently being addressed by our NTA Attorney. In keeping with an uncompromising transparency to our industry, we will continue to post updates as time unfolds.

Pretty confident with themselves. "I'm not a book keeper" only gets you so far. Go get'em and May the Truth Prevail.

what better a way to expose those dumb a$$es...demand a jury trial so everything can be brought out in front of them while they are present.....they could not be any more stupid

You know it would be really funny if the voting on their contract was somehow illegal and they ended up doing all that work for nothing. Wonder if they would then go after all the good ole boys they kept around.
    Just saying.

Wow, Greg & Cindy had me kicked out of the NTA & then illegally made choices through her membership services to keep me out & I never sued...... I realized a National Organization for Taxidermists was more important than me.

Guess we can now see who really felt the NTA was 'theirs' and who truly wants to destroy the NTA if they do not get their way..... as Bill Haynes use to accuse us of doing.

if they lose the NTA can use all of the info discovered in that suit to bring their own suit without having to pay for discovery because it's already on the record.

George The older I get, the better I was.

I want everyone to know that the "contract" they're suing over is patently and fraudiently illegal. There are some people here (I think Danny Owens, Tony Finazzo, Brenda Duvall, and Craig Lewis were there. I know Bill Haynes was there because he assigned the job to Craig and me.) at a spring board meeting where the BOARD in moved to have them summarily dismissed when their contract expired two months before the convention. I was one who appealed to the board that we do it properly. It was agreed that we would write a completely new AND PROFESSIONAL contract after which time it would be submitted to the board for approval and then submitted to Greg to renew his contract. The vote was unanimous and Bill assigned the two of us to the job, but then later decided that Frankie Thompson would chair the group.

Frankie had skipped town so we began the process. We immediately were attacked for not letting Frankie run the show. Then Greg called me and chastised me to even think that he would supervise Cindy and the office staff. Then he dropped the bomb that there was no need for us to go farther because he had already SIGNED a contract presented to him by Frankie, Bill, and Archie Phillips. The BOARD NEVER SAW ANYTHING AND THE CONTRACT WAS INITIATED WITHOUT REVIEW.

Now if I drop dead tonight, you know who else can verify just what I've said. Let them go to court. The only concern I have is that Greg has so many cronies in the government there and the trial will be held in Louisanna because that's where Bill Haynes had the incorporation papers filed.

They are delusional and they will lose.
When their fraudulent suit is over, COUNTER-sue. Liquidate them completely and use their assets to help the NTA.
There's a time for peace and a time for war.

Bill Haynes has an archived (or at least quoted before he deleted) post on here saying he personally skipped the board & drew up Greg & Cindy's contract because he didn't like the one Craig & George drew up.

  13. 22nd Judicial district Court.
    Parish of St. Tammany Louisiana.

    No. 2013-13603 D

    Greg Crain, ET AL
    Versus
The National Taxidermists Association, ET AL

    Defendants
NTA< John Janelli, Mitch Webb, Carol Janelli, Jim Ellis, Mel Kincheloe, Jeff Martin, Mike Briganti, Russell Knight, John Creager, ABC Insurance Company.

There is a lot of legalese stuff.

Crains claim the board agreed they were owed $105,000.

Crains also claim the NTA will owe them an additional $250,000. by the end of the contract.

there follows 102. Items many of which I think are repetitions of each other.

    Jury Demand.
The Petitioners respectfully demand a trial by jury.

    Prayer for relief.
Past wages, VACATIONS and commissions., lost profits, REPUTATIONAL harm, intentional infliction of emotional distress, mental anguish, humiliation, pain and suffering, reasonable attorneys fees and cost of these proceedings.

    Same for Mrs. Crain.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Anyway, There are many pages to the claims by the Crains. All of this will be handled by the lawyer, I cannot and will not argue points I posted, I will not offer any opinions.

IN another letter from their attorney.
They ask for all minutes, recordings and notes taken by anyone, letters, memorandums or opinions.

Anyway there is a stack of legal papers about 3/8th of an inch thick.

Please just know and understand, I received the papers on Saturday by Reg. mail. Our attorney has not had time to sort through them and there will be a meeting with the attorney soon I am pretty sure. Being this is apparently going to court, none of the board can comment on other than facts.

What will happen in a small parish courtroom with a spoon-fed jury is anyone's guess.

So, they want a civil case by jury. That's funny. Will that be before or after the CRIMINAL case is heard? If anyone is thinking, "let the Crain's walk", you better be rethinking that about now.

seems like if criminal charges are filed, the civil case would be put on hold to see the outcome of criminal trial

I do believe that would be correct. Seems some think that since the NTA is back in the hands of the board that nothing further needs to be done. I feel that would be a grave mistake.

Especially since it still seems in disarray.

  19. Jim, while everyone will never agree on everything, I assure you things are not in disarray .

A new spec sheet for conventions is being reviewed and revised.

The competition worked very well and is getting some tweaks.

The board is still waiting on the bylaw rewrites to see if they fall within the long range goals, which. Are also being looked.

How much time do you expect the board to spend on the NTA per day?

Everyone of us has two to four hours a day beside many run a full time business.

Just saying it cannot happen overnite it took years to screw it up this bad and we do have a 15 month goal to be totally upright!!!

I was out the door this morning to mow a bit and had to take a call, turns out same old stuff that has been hashed out the past two weeks

Then I either answer your post or later answer it.

The someone would say something like you just did about disarray .

iPhone just took ten minutes of time to answer. I am not a fast pm on the I phone, which I bought just to keep the members updated no matter where I am at. $135.00 per month I could keep but the members want info so here it is!
