Great thread, some fine memories being made every year.

Having been one of the most difficult waterfowl seasons in recent memory, this hunt was a nice capper to it. should have had three birds a piece for a total of six but we were caught taking a late nap by the last flock of the day. ::) ;)

Headed south of the border to do some collecting

After four years of going we have really learned the wheres, whens, and hows of that area. Started the first morning by sleeping in a little bit and doing a Dovehunt so that everybody could dust the cobwebs off.

And 750 rounds and 600+ dove later I had to the cobwebs knocked off.

One of the guys with us had been to Argentina several times and he said this dove hunt rivaled anything he'd ever seen.

The first afternoon we got set up on the bay with the new vboard and full-bodied floater Brent that we brought down got in a little bit of brant shooting.

We only saw small percentage of the Brant, ducks, shorebirds, pelicans etc. that you would normally see on the bay but we did get a few nice groups of Brant to decoy and picked up a couple great ones for mounts and a couple with some bands.

Today too we split the groups. Half went for a canal duck hunt and half went for a dove hunt.

Spent a little time sitting with Brad taking turns shooting the dove that were screaming through the Mesquite brush.

The guys on the ditches got everything that they wanted including all three of the teal and the Mexican Mallard.

With the lower than normal duck numbers we decided to get the Brant decoys split up and get everybody set up for their best opportunity for a few brant.

One of the brant was banded 19 years ago. She's flown a lot of miles up and down that West Coast.

The third day we decided to stick a little closer to home and split groups on Dove and canal hunting.

The morning Canal hunt was exceptional.

And the afternoon when wasn't bad either.

Brad and I stayed busy skinning for two evenings and everybody left with everything they wanted.

Living in central Texas we have Mexican food readily available. But the one thing I will miss from this trip was the home-cooked Mexican food they made for us.
We didn't ask what it was but holy smokes it was good.
