Gator head

    Customer dropped off gator mount that still has meat in the jaws and roof of the mouth. Stinks to no end. Trying to macerate but not working very well. Any tips on getting it cleaned up. Have no clue how it was tanned. Just know it wasn't the right way.

    If it was tanned, it will probably affect the maceration process. If you can hand trim the tanned parts away it will help. I would continue to macerate in 80 to 90 degree heated water and let it be for a while. Might well take longer than a week or two. There are others here that do a lot of gators and perhaps they have run into this.

    Have no problem doing gators. Just trying to clean up someone else's mess.
