What are some good avian publications I can get my hands on for reference. Seems like I spend as much time looking for reference than actually mounting the bird. There is good deer reference everywhere you look but the bird stuff is harder to find. I'm mainly looking for waterfowl and pheasant, I don't get much upland birds here in central Texas.

The Audubon Society Book Of Water Bird's cover's just about every thing you want to know on waterfowl and the habitat that they live in. Also some very good colored reference photo's.
They also have an upland bird book.

    Ducks Unlimited's magazines are great.
And the Complete Waterfowl Studies by Bruce Burk are hard to beat. I think most of the supply companies carry the set.
