Re: ANGLERS ARTISTRY RECENT STUDENT WORK 2006-2012!

Well I just returned from a week with Rick Krane at Angler’s Artistry, and yes it was a real eye opener for this taxidermist. As many have confirmed on here that both Rick and Kathy do care about their students and their hospitality was the best I have experienced. Kathy starts your day with a great breakfast that seems to just appear as if it came from a gourmet magazine. Presentation was incredible and I actually felt guilty prior to eating it, of course the guilt did not last long as I was hungry.

As for Rick’s method of teaching well as many have said Rick is very observant to teach you a style that is of comfort for your understanding and progression. I felt comfortable from the moment I stepped foot at Angler’s Artistry and now I keep saying to myself, “Why did I wait this long to enrol for some assistance.” I am a self taught taxidermist and have practiced for many years and this week I learned there are better methods and steps to make me more profitable with the techniques that I have been taught. Rick develops innovative ways to uncover your experience level and points you into the direction that you need to advance into his program. I have learned a great deal about fish anatomy and most importantly fish kinesiology. Rick has a vast knowledge of all aquatic species and issues. He offers expert advice on Energetic Kinesiology which is primarily the use of muscle in the fish’s structure and how those muscles are flows of energy within the body that relate not only to the muscles but to every tissue and organ that go to make the fish a living specimen. Other words we do not mount fish that look dead and we work on bringing the fish to life in our mounts. If you grasp this concept then your fish mounts will become a work of art that wins World Competitions and many of his students have done so in the past and still acquire that status today.

Angler’s Artistry is also involved in many developments phases with suppliers needs to address many issues that we taxidermists require. One of the many developments is the foam blocks that we carved my 32 inch walleye from. I have been working with blue foam billets and even glued some together to get me the width that I desire. The foam that is developed by Rick seems to be much tougher and denser and creates less dust when sanding. I was impressed with it that I purchased 3 blocks and brought it back home with me. These developments have gone through a trial and error process and perfected by Rick for his students so that we do not have to experience all of the headaches.

In conclusion, I have rebooked another session which unfortunately isn’t until April as courses with Angler’s Artistry seem to be booking fast for 2014. I wish I would have listened to many of you and enrolled 3 years ago when I first learned about Angler’s Artistry. I am now years ahead with the new techniques and carving methods that I have learned. I am now also proud to say that I am officially a family member of Angler’s Artistry and look forward to enjoying the benefits that come from taking this course and of course the discounts on products that are offered to his students. Rick and Kathy I cannot thank you enough for a great experience.

Best regards and look forward to April.
    Sam Carrafiello

p.s. maybe I can convince you to come up here next month and fish for some walleyes which as you seen we do get them from 12-15 lbs.

Welcome to the family Sam. I had much the same reaction the with the first class I took with Rick. I was spinning my wheels for 25 years making the same mistakes over and over again. He really has the ability to teach even an old dog new tricks. Needless to say I have gone back for several lessons since that first one and still need to return for more!

I can't wait to see your work following his class.

    Regards,

    Brian

Thanks Brian, Rick and I did discuss the fact that we were similar with over 25 years experience and yet hitting these road blocks until we learned his system. I will definitely place everything into practice and am right now looking at purchasing vacuum pump etc. to get to casting some fins, tails, and heads. I admire your work and looking forward to meeting the many family members of Angler's Artistry.

    Best regards,
    Sam

What a great Family for very cool fishhead we all call family members!

Sam! The opportunity I have in my life to be able to meet some of the most wonderfully talented, hardworking, and truly great folks is nearly indescribable! I’m blessed as a word to be able to share what I do with equally enthusiastic folks like Sam! World and National Champions as well the beginner all have the same thing in common when they are here with all of us here in New Hampshire and that is we all lots to learn and lots to share with our passion for fish taxidermy! Sam I’m so humbled and pleased that your experience here was a learning one with some great laughs and great times! I have been teaching since 1991 and I really love what I do because I get to see the love for learning and taxidermy come to life while watching folks push past their own abilities heading toward the goals they have personally and professionally! It all starts with the right attitude for learning and the confidence that you can do it! No one will ever know it all, and that is the very best part of what we do as the thirst for a better fish technique and the goals for learning will never be quenched.

Sam as I often say “now the fish work begins” simply it is never about what you do here that is the real lessons but what you do with the time and the lessons you had once you get to your own bench that will shape you the most! Sam both Kathie and I are so happy to welcome you to family we call Anglers Artistry!

    You’re on for the Walleye!

    My Best!

Posted in TMIFP but I'll post these here too. I can't do too many fish as I have too many other things to do. I like to do a few fish a year to get away from fur and feathers for a while. For some reason, the brookie's spots look a whole lot brighter than they really are..? I'm nowhere near as good as most of you here, but I have fun...

Re: ANGLERS ARTISTRY RECENT STUDENT WORK 2006-2012!

I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful and memorable Thanksgiving! I reflect on this time of the year as a benchmark of time in my life. I like so many have a great deal to be thankful for. I want you all to spend time with love ones today if you can and enjoy all you have bestowed upon you all your friends your talent your health and your ability to make others feel that their life is a bit better because their in it. I’m writing this a day early because I I’ll be away for a few days and wanted to say thank you and say how much I value and appreciate the friendships and the wonderful folks of the T-Net family we all share!

I have spent sometime visiting some friends out and about the country and Canada this past year and here and it again a reminder to me that life is short and of great value to share with others. Travel safely if you are and God Bless you all today and for the times to come!
    Happy Thanksgiving!

Re: ANGLERS ARTISTRY RECENT STUDENT WORK 2006-2012!

I want to share a few photos of a Inspired young man who came to us from Texas who is a second generation Taxidermist in the making! Welcome to the family Kyle Hahn! I hope folks find the photos inspiring and made get a few ideas along the way to help the big picture of what makes our work more fun to do and I optimistically hope more personally rewarding!

Here are a few photos of this young mans very first 2 fish ever! Klye reminded me why I teach others fish taxidermy! This young man worked so very hard more then I think most but at each struggle he never quit on himself and of course I always have that willful hand at the ready to encourage those who want to achieve!

2 more workshops left on the year I love the opportunity to share what I do and what I have with those who want to do what we all love… create!
