Neutralizing before or after tanning?

Hi folks!
I've been tanning with lutan f for a while now with great success...but the instructions i got from my supplier says to neutralise after tanning(but i dont,i neutralise after pickling).
Does it really matter? Does any of you tried both and see any difference on the final product???

NO WHERE in these instructions, do you see anything about neutralising before tanning with Lutan.

Here is the directions I give for tanning with the Perma-Tan 2000, that I sell. I cant see any reason why they wouldnt work just fine with Lutan also.

To every gallon of 85-90degF water, add 1/2lb of salt. Use just enough water to completely cover the skin, and allow it to move freely. Probablly 2 gallons for the average WT cape. Add ONE ounce of tan per pound of skin weight.(shaved, and drained 1-1.5 hrs) Leave the skin in the tan for a minimum of 8 hrs through overnight, stirring gently every hour or so. 99% of all the tanning, has taken place within the first 6 hours after entering the tan, believe it or not.

Next am, slowly start adding baking soda TO THE TAN, a little at a time, over a 2 hour period, until a pH of 4.5 to 5.0 is reached. After you reach this pH, leave the skins in the tan for additional 30min, to 1 hour. Pull skins, quickly rinse with a hose, and horse up to drain.

Keep in mind, these are my instructions, for the use of my tan. If anyone out there knows of a supplier giving out instructions for the use of Lutan, that instruct neutralising before tanning, you should tell them about it! Lord only knows the THOUSANDS of un-tanned skins floating around out there.

If they dont believe you, tell them to contact me, and I will supply them with contact info that will give them the proof they are looking for. I have the name and phone number of a Leather Chemist, that works for the only wholesale Lutan supplier in the United States.

Putting pickled skin directly in tanning solution will not lead to surface tan?? ???what do i dont get???

The instructions you got from the supplier are dead ass wrong. Pickled skin goes straight to the tan and neutralized after.
