Have you taxidermist in USA noticed a difference in the consistancy of the 20 Mule Team borax over there? In Canada the borax in the box used to be like a powder now it's more granuler and doesn't seem to work as well. Just wondering if it's just in Canada. It was like a powder up until 6 months ago.

  2. I have all ways used Bess Made preservative but ran out and bought 20 Mule Team Borax to use until I could get an order placed. Mine was granular also. I thought that I remembered it being more powdered. I am worried about the mounts I have used it on. Anybody else ?

I think they might have made it more granuler so it would come out of the box easier. The powder used to clump up in the box.

It seems like they changed it a couple of years ago.

The granular borax is hydrated, the fluffy is "puffed" or anhydrous..

    Granular formula : Na2B4O7·10H2O

    Puffed : Na2B4O7

20 mule team Borax. I have a blender in my shop that I run mine thru. It makes it more powdery. you can only do about a glass full at a time...But it will work just fine straight out the box...DC
