2 part urethane ultra clear

Discussion in 'Molding and Casting' started by John C, Feb 4, 2014.

  1. I have a little encasement project. I need a 2 part urethane that is water clear for this.

Which resins have you found to be water clear?

US Composites............Clear Casting Resin but it ain't no urethane. That's fur sure.

  3. Smooth on has a nice clear material. Don't expect a fast set time. They cure overnight.

Also you need to expect to use a vacuum chamber to get a true clear bubble free casting. There may be some stuff out there that will degas on its own but I am not sure.

Any in put on that Tim?

I think it would work better in a pressure pot. About the only input I've got.

  5. I know many people will disclaim this but its worked for me. I use a heavy gauge bucket and a plexiglass lid to pull a vaccum and the air bubbles do rise to the top and the amount of volume does increase drastically in size.

    Yep, that'll work too.

  7. The vacuum pot I have is a 5 gallon heavy walled cooking pot with a 1in thick acrylic top.

Tim makes a good point, a pressure pot after you fill your mold.

Vacuum after you mix and pressure after you pour.
