    Hello, all!

I recently found this Ruffed Grouse dead on the side of the road. I picked it up, thinking that it would be good to mount and realized that its plumage was rather... unusual. The bird has extremely light contour plumage, faded flight feathers and no tail band...

I was curious to know if anyone else had seen a bird like this? I have another photo that shows the head (which is a normal, red-phase grouse from the mid-neck up).

    Thanks for your insight!

looks like it could be a leucistic color phase but not sure

  3. That's different. I've never seen what like that before.
