United Taxidermist Association Hands-On Workshops

The 2014 UTA EXPO will be offering two hands on classes for those wishing to participate. These workshops are limited to a certain number and are “First come, First served” basis.

The Bird class “Mounting the Ring Neck Pheasant” will be taught by the following instructors.

Jim Kimball, Dale Manning, Terry Bennett, Danny Owens and Shawn Bakken

UTA, through the generous donations of suppliers, will be providing the following materials for this workshop: The Ring Neck Pheasant, the form, head, eyes, sewing thread, tape, wire, neck material, mounting stand, etc.

Those participating will need to bring: Flat nosed pliers, Needle nosed pliers, Wire cutters, One 6 inch straight needle and One 4 inch straight needle.

The Game Head workshop will be taught by the following instructors.

Clay Wagner, Dawayne Dewey, Manny Chavez, Dan Tout, Terry Bennett and Greg Brumfield.

In this workshop you bring your own Game Head and tools you use to mount your piece. Tools should include everything you need to mount this animal, i.e., mounting stand modeling tools, hand tools, form, cape, eyes, ears, clay etc. Whatever you normally use …bring it. The Instructors will assist you in all aspects of the mount you may have questions about. This will be a great class to bring that Game Head you may not be completely familiar with or one that you wish to learn new or different techniques about. The Instructors will be able to help you in any way you need.
