Wow! That is about as perfect Canvasback as I have seen. I think the position is incredible. I have one coming up. I hope I do even half as good as you did on this one.

Just a hen, but a really old one. Fairly common with captive old breeder hens to show drake plumage when they age, but this is a wild bird. Not sure how common it is in wild birds.

First of all: WOW! so much nice birds in the last weeks, beautiful jobs you all.
I can not compete with this much talent and never will again. After 4 months of pain and unable to work I'm back! (as good as i can)
Got the test results form the doc and now the pain in my hands is no mystery anymore. Sadly my middle handbones have grown all wrong (with bones for a second thumb in there) and are grinding against each other. They are now worn down and the pain will stay til I have an operation to bind them together somehow. This will make my hands stiff and unusable for taxidermy, :'( so I will hang on as long as i can and not make the operation
Wish me luck so I can have some more years to do taxidermy because it is my life!

European jay from me. I had to replace 3 wingfeathers, they where shot through and barely hanging on ::)

    Greetings, Karin

falco, beautiful mount and base. What a cool bird. What sort of client would have such a bird, this one in particular? Is it from a zoo or other institution, pen raised, … ?
