The Month in Fish Pictures" ~Year 6~ April Addition 2014!!!!!!!

A very warm greeting from somewhere in Minnesota! Spring is here and one day the rest of the country will thaw out as well.

I’ll hope to see you this year at some of the Cool shows I’ll be Judging and a sharing some fun with a seminar or two! Again want to commend all of you, as there are so many original contributors and many new ones alike that all share in this great string that has been around from over 5 years! I just want to remind and assure folks that we all begin some where and work hard at being the best we can all be as taxidermists. It is and always has been a spot on the taxidermy.net where folks can and do come to show there work with out criticism and hard comments! So lets remember to always keep it that way. As the moderator of this section I do not get to involved with censorship not do I ever want too. So be respectful of all and remember we all have a long way to go and should be enjoying the processes!

  2. Sorry for the bad/fussy phone pic.

Every year I donate a large piece to my local Costal Conservation Association. Here is 2014's piece.

It is a wall hanging base with three Redfish(AKA Red Drum). They are 40",42" & 43" blanks from original molds and cast made in my shop.
This years piece raised $3250.00 at the auction.

This is a project I took on for a buddy that mentioned he would like a Steelhead shoulder mount. At first I had no idea how to begin, so I started with a foam mannequin from Research Mannequins along with one of their Steelhead heads. After cutting the foam down to fit, I coated it with Bondo and Resin as the skin and sanded it smooth. Then I painstakingly drew and carved each scale in by hand. Added some paint and this is how it ended up.
