Blank ID

  1. This ( 19" Rock Bass?) blank came to me as you see it in the picture. Is it a Rock Bass and if so what Kind?

  2. Some species of saltwater Rockfish not a rock bass as in the freshwater member of the sunfish family.
     

  3. Looks like a classic black rockfish (up here sometimes called "black bass") from up here in Alaska. They are great fun to catch, especially on light gear and very good eating also. Scientific name.........Sebastes melanops. Could also be a blue rockfish as their body shapes are nearly identical....blacks are more common.....world record is something over 10 lbs......

    I found this page on a website guide to rockfish. The page is labeled Black rockfish. Are they all considered a type of black rockfish? If so I could use this blank for the different color patterns?
