tanning fish

    Im am looking into starting ty to do fish taxidermy. Any suggestions on the best way to preserve the skin. Is there any tanning that needs to be done? Any help would be thankfull.

    I use DP mixed with water and lysol.

    borax seem to work just fine,before i started buying DP i used borax and those mounts are only 1 year old or so and they look brandnew. i soked the fish over night in a borax water solution then powdered the skin with borax and mounted it.

    I soak for 6-12 hours in borax and lysol, about a cup of borax and a capful of lysol per gallon. If it's a really oily fish (not a salt water because those I only do replicas) I add a squirt of simple green.
