exporting tanned hides to canada

Discussion in 'Lifesize Mammals' started by turkeyjim, Aug 13, 2014.

  1. What permits are required to export a tanned Black Bear hide to Saskatchewan Canada. Does Canada require a cites permit? Black Bears are not an endangered species.

You will need an export permit if you are a business owner (shipping commercially to be an exporter/importer) and you will need a cites and export permit for the black bear hide. That is my understanding, at any rate.

    Red tape sucks.

Import export lic. Designated port exception permit(most likely), and CITES Appendix ll. It will take you anywhere from 7 weeks to 7 months to get the CITES. If the bear originated in Canada, You can possibly get a re-export permit through your regional office. This all depends on who your inspectors are.
