gadwall competition question

    Does anyone have a gadwall head close up pic. And for a competition mount do u make eye lids they are so thin as it is. Tips or opinions would be great. Thanks

    If you don't replace the eyelids you will lose points for it.

    I've never taken away points for not re-building eye rings.. But I've rewarded for properly re-built eye rings..

    if you adjust the lids right when mounting...by "rolling" them outward ..and put the mount in freezer to dry for 3-4 weeks you will not need to re-build the eye lids.

    I have received a couple blue ribbons (professional level) and even a best of category or 2 for birds with no eye rings. Once you start entering masters level, I would think it would be imperative to have them on the mount.

    Over done or messy eye rings, or improper shapes etc can be worse than no eye rings

    Thanks guys ill go with no I rings and use the freezer method.
