Nice smackdown Shawn!. Post office was closed two days last week because of snow and ice but your open mouth Widgeon should be arriving in Lancaster shortly :)

Nothing like getting one on opening morning and its a hit-lister. Biggest bird to date. 20 pounds 1 oz, 1 1/4" spurs, 10 1/4" beard and 7" beard. My first and probably last double bearded bird. Sorry for the crappy cell pic.

  15. Sweet hunt Brazosboyt! Nothing better than spending time in a turkey blind with your kid! Way to get after them. Our shotgun season doesn't open for a couple more weeks. I'm itching to get after them!

For the last 15 years we've been working to improve our turkey habitat.

Wells, water troughs, milo feeders, brush clearing, predator control, etc.

Every year we have A few more birds. This year-we had 15+ toms roosted on the property. Had a blast with my boys and father in law this weekend.

Set up on 3 toms and some hens. Put big ugly up and in 5 minutes, they were bowed up on him. 1,2,3 and 2 were down.

Poor mr ugly took a load of #6 in the face.

Little while later- got my fil on one.

Heard one a few hundred yards off. Got on him and sealed the deal.

Took a few pics and called it a day.
