Looking at this thread makes me want to be in the field more and more. Love all the buffleheads and wood ducks! Here are a few of our hunts from earlier this season.

WOW! I can't imagine hunting in the southern states. You guys shoot in a week what take us the whole season to accumulate and then most aren't near fully plumed out. We can only drool in the spring during migration. Still got two weeks left on our season but locked up tight in ice and you got them all for three months now.Guess I'm glad I don't get what you guys do. I would mount ever bird I shot ;D

Oh, you all make me jealous, so many birds, fantastic birds, on one day, no chance here in Germany.
I got an invitation from a friend to shoot my first woodcock in the evening, when they start to fly. There are not so many here in south Germany and so it is something very special to get one and I am very happy about my perfect first woodcock.

Thank you all for the kind words and yes, I can't think how it is to go hunting without the dogs, they make the hunt something special and every pointing or retrieving is a great moment, I love my dogs and I love the hunting with them,

    Rainer.

Rainer, congratulations on your Woodcock - that picture could be on the front of a magazine :)

We're killing a few woodies over here Jason - just eating them right now but with acorns everywhere we will start shooting the mounters in about another 2 weeks

  18. Rai, congrats on the woodcock, that is a nice picture too!
You guys are slaying the Wood Ducks, they only roost on our lake and are gone before shooting and back after shooting. I need to figure out where they are going lol!
