Any advice on fleshing a turkey, and do you use liqua cure or borax?
Re: Turkey Trouble any advice?
you need to clean your birds better
Once you skin it , sew it inside out for the fleshing. This will keep all the goo from getting on the feathers
just use your fleshing knife. no additives needed. just elbow greese
wire wheel and keep the skin moist
You should rinse the meat with hot water, or with alcohol
Good advice duxrus, i wander how many other pros do this method.
I pressure wash them with the yellow tip. Rarely use a wire wheel on turkey's anymore. It takes 30-45 min to properly clean one. Be slow and easy and you will have a super clean bird. I wash in dawn and rinse rinse rinse. No longer do I use gas on birds
I am sorry but a fleshing knife, have you ever done a turkey. A wheel or pressure washing will do the trick, I do what ductus told you with my ducks. I also have to ask what does rinsing the meat with alcohol or hot water do? BLONDIE you can use liqua if you want but just dusting the skin with Borax will work just fine.
Be sure to inject the primary feather bases with alcohol or other preservative. Turkey wings can rot and stink to high heaven if not treated properly.
