Re-hydrating on a freeze-dried fawn

I have a freeze dried fawn that needs some work on the eye set and re-carding the ears.
I'm a little concerned about possible slipping or any other unforeseen issues that may arise.
Has anybody ran into this? Problems? Solutions?

do it all the time....if it was fresh when mounted dampen a little cotton batting and wrap around ears cover tight with plastic bag and overnight you will be able to re-card...same with eyelids......re pose and put in freezer for 2 weeks...then air dry......if it was "iffy" then use DN instead of water and then air dry

I was wondering if I should use alcohol to be a little safer than water.
