    Looks to be a greater with what appears the white extending into the primaries though it's hard to tell without a open wing picture. She still has quite a few pin feathers in the head.

    black feathers forming on neck/breast......greenish black on head...blue bill

    Now would he be a greater due to the brownish primarie tips? Im still learning my ducks...:)

    no !!he, she, it, would be a greater due to the white extending down onto the primaries farther,also and some may disagree but as a rule greenhead greater,, purple head lesser

    With thay much white behind the bill it is definitely a hen. If you have the 2 next to each other you can tell of size, head shape, color is not thay accurate. Wing with white extending down is one of the only ways. That iridescent in the head could be from a very old hen starting to have hormone issues. I have a hen greater mounted with those qualities

    I agree with byrdman and giveem3 steve have said - eclipse drake.

  12. That's a poor comparison sketch of the two but it does look like a juvi greater.

    And yes the eclipse drawing is a poor one, but one which I had on file and thought I'd share.

    Yes that illustration of the mature drakes was labeled incorrectly. (I deleted that - good eye as usual byrdman. )

    Oh funny..i thought lessers had all brown primaries and the greater has just the brown tips.what i left out was the white on the greaters primaries.so i guess i wasent as confused as i thought. ;)....
