I was curious what eye preference people have for commercial whitetail deer?
Brite -Tech economy medium dark eye.
Sent from my iPhone using Ohub Campfire
Dark Meder for me
Medium dark Van Dyke natural eye.
Joe Meder,meduim and dark
Joe Coombs / Joe Meader
I like the Meder dark eye.
Old style Meder!
True eye's over here.
Yep Tru eyes here
Yep, true eyes for me also.
True eyes folks, I'd love to know if this preference is based on price or realism? Thanks.
Both 1fish2fish, many have won major world and state championships with them. I use them and Meder, Tohican, VanDykes and not one customer questioned which eye I used. If you could find a 32 mm black marble you could probably get away with that if the mount looks good.
Old style Meder and trueyes for the lifelike qualities, of course.
Thanks Paul. I don't work on deer but have shared some info from this side of the forum with others who do. Also, I meant best value, not necessarily cheapest, to clarify that. Just trying to understand which are most accurate.
If someone has pictures I would love to see the difference between the tru eyes and the Joe Meder eyes on a mount. Also does Mckenzie still sell the old style joe meder eyes? I just see the liquid lens for $18.
Tohickon Meder Eye
Is that the "new style meder eyes"? I'm trying to figure out which eyes to order for my next mount and I'm not sure I want to spend $18. I really like the looks of the meder eyes.
