On Friday Jan 30 the Winter Board meeting began at 8am. New officers and board members were sworn in. Mitch Webb as President, Jim Ellis as V.Pres. and Janna Medved as Secretary. New Board Members were sworn in. Advisory Committee was introduced. They are Fred Vanderburgh as Advisory Committee Chairman, with Larry Blomquist and Mike Oropallo. Thereafter business began. It was a long day with a filled agenda. Everyone stayed on task and by days end most all business was addressed. On Sat Jan 31, the board reconvened at 9am and went right back to work. President Mitch Webb assigned all committees and appointed all committee chairmen. Committees then gathered and started planning ways to fulfill their assignments. It was an exciting event to see so many people all come together and work so cohesively for one common goal. Many exciting plans were brought back to the table by days end. We all left tired, but with a feeling of accomplishment. Board member Kurt Ainsworth was appointed as NTA Treasure. I know Kurt will do an outstanding job. Congratulations Kurt. Committee Chairs are as follows: Michelle Burkholder chairs the Audit Committee Tim Thacker chairs the Bylaws and Resolution Committee and the Judges and Seminar Committees Jim Tucker chairs the Competition Committee and the Compensation Committee Dave Blank chairs the Convention Committee and the Finance and Investment Committees Mark Morren chairs the Membership & State Taxidermy Development Committees & the Awards and Recognition Committee Russell Knight chairs the Marketing and Public Relations Committee Chris Feldt chairs the Publications Committee Board Members Heath Cline, Todd Broussard, Joseph Anderson, John Creager and Kurt Ainsworth will all serve on these various committees. The prize pool climbed to 13,750.00 by days end with more commitments being made. A presentation was made by Michelle Burkholder on Seven Springs, PA as a possible 2016 venue location. Tim Thacker gave a presentation on the new NTA website. Chris Feldt gave a presentation on the new and exciting plans for the Outlook on-line newsletter. (be sure to get your e-mail address submitted on the website in order to receive the Newsletters which will be coming very soon now.) All left St.Louis very excited and anxious to get busy. It was a Wonderful weekend for the NTA. Be sure to make your plans to join us in Gatlinburg. Motel rooms are filling fast. The vendor area's are quickly selling out again. Not many remain.
