Hydrate dry area on salted cape...

Discussion in 'Beginners' started by 126whitetail, Feb 19, 2015.

  1. I have a patch about 8x3 inches that is bone dry(in the brisket area) , but it didn't get salt in/on it. I will be sending the cape off to a commercial tannery, should I try to re-hydrate the patch to get salt in it. I was thinking to brush on Stop Rot if it is even necessary to address the unsalted patch.

    Thank You

You should be OK. We air dry/flint dry hides all the time, like coon fox , coyote before tanning.
